Stainz bashing

Post by Bob Millard » Sun Apr 20, 2025 7:30 am

Having retired from full-size steam I am getting back into model stuff; we have built a G scale railway in my semi redundant work shop.
Having purchased a beat up Stainz I have modified it a little bit. Cut 5/16" off the back, lowered the footplate, three D printed smoke box, fire box, bunkers, cab back sheet and numerous smaller items combined with a turned brass boiler and chimney.
The photos show how bad my painting is but the overall result is quite pleasing and runs well.
Got the bug now and have bought a non-runner LGB class 99 as a chassis donor.

Welcome aboard Bob.
That's a mighty fine bash and paint job. Looking forward to seeing and hearing more about your projects.

Here I just thought "Barclay", but you're right.

Also nice to see painted valve gear for a change. (Nothing wrong with unpainted of course)
