After racing Marblehead yachts, I decided to start building scale. This was my first venture. It weighs 60KG. and launched from a trailer. Fire fighting monitors shoot water about 6metres, radar, fully lit, two 105mm props in Kort nozzles.

Probably my favourite, based on the "St. Ola" that plied the Pentland Firth.
Six ft. long coal fired, copper plated hull with rivetting to Lloyds 100A1 for a vessel under 500 tons. She carries a kilo of coal in two bunkers either side of the boiler and a litre of water in a forepeak tank. Grant.

Let me get this straight. Are you saying the model is constructed from individually riveted copper plates?

No Rik, I built a fibreglass hull then sheathed it in the copper plates. Grant.

An absolutely amazing model with such intricate detailing. I know nothing about the subject but appreciate all the skills you have to build such an incredible item.
However, why are we surprised when everything else you do is just perfect!

Off topic for a moment;
Is there somewhere I can get the plans for a simple river barge and maybe a tug?
I have an idea for a scene on my layout that would require them.
Back on topic.

A Murray River paddler and barge would make sense for an Australian theme. I have one, probably a bit big for what you want. Grant.

Fantastic! I never doubted that your boat modelling would be equal to your railway modelling, but they are superb examples of model engineering.
My own forays into model boats pale in comparison to yours, but I have never been a model engineer. I shall have to scan some photographs, and post them in a separate thread.

What controls does it have? Rudder obviously, but can you set the sails independently of each other?

Not independently Rik, but you don't need to. It has a winch that controls all three sails.

That makes sense. I've been tempted to acquire a RC sailboat. I used to do a fair bit of dinghy sailing in my younger days.
