At the end of 9 hours in the bike making workshop and then a few hours in the Red Room on a 35 degree, 85 % humidity day, it is bliss to get the steel caps and bamboo socks off.

Plod will only be making one Garratt. The second set of LASER cut plate work is in case of the inevitable stuff up or drastic design changes.

MAM came home in the dark hours with a load from the latest firing. Some good ones in this batch.

Chest covers were completed last night.
These are left over castings from Llewellyn # 1 (still to be painted) that Plod drew up and Mike Jack at Stainer Engineering cast a few years back.
4 extras proved quite handy for the Garratt project Plod dropped the unaltered 3D part onto a fresh 2D sheet for the Red Room action.

Delicate skimming off

Will be drilled using the DRO but Plod needs Sanity marks to avoid an accurate mistake.

Frame drilling fixture in action. The brass fences are the X =0 and Y =0 for the co ordinate drilling. Plod loves a DRO.

Captain Plod had a wee dose of satisfaction, not only has Australia's batting showing encouraging signs of improvement, the 1/4" silver steel axles fit very nicely into the Garratt bogie frame assembly.
