Yes, it's a common problem, I wonder if all the people working in the Accucraft factory know how to set valves correctly?

All steam engines had red inside the frames, so the crews can spot cracks and defects in the frame more easily. It also reflects light so they can generaly see more easily.

That is exactly my understanding too. There is an exception to the Red Rule though, and that is Gresley A4 Pacifics that had their inner frames painted white due to the darkness under all that streamlining. How long they remained white is, of course, a different matter.....!
With one exception, all of my steam locos have red inner frames.

Only my mamod has red inner frames. Probably because its the only engine that ive ever stripped down to just its compnent parts.

Been discussing the possibility of installing a domed Wilesco whistle on my Edrig with Mr. MHLR, we shall have to see how this works out, but I have high hopes for this little scheme, we shall have to wait and see what it'll cost.

Should cost a hell of a lot less than a DJB whistle!!!!

sounds good will and pete.
the only reasons i dont like the idea is that-
the high pressure will make it very night pitched, on my roller i left it for ages and the whistle was ear splitting.
and it wouldnt look that good, but that a personal opinion.

1. It's guna cost 4.99 for the whistle + another fiver for odd bits n pieces lol!
2. Do you have a DOMED whistle on your roller - mine has a normal one.
3. I think it may look better than the DJB one cus the DJB one has stuff everywhere in the cab making it a bit cluttered. They do sound good though DJB, although still a bit high...
I think the pressure wont be too much of a problem, because you would just open the valve slightly to whistle at higher pressures and more with lower pressures

As some of you may have realised from a hint elsewhere on this forum, yesterday I took 'Isabelle' to pieces, Since I have done various jobs, but the most complete is the following. More pics in the next couple of days, I'm mainly waiting for my Phoenix paints order to arrive.

Another showing the smokebox and running plate handrail, once I've got the brass etch primer I shall paint it and then spray the front of the running plate the shame shade as the smokebox.

Incase you're wondering what the handrail is doing there, here is why.

Looking brilliant Will

, likewise I wish that the finish on Caradocs smokebox was that good, after a few months in service the door is very matt whilst the rest of it has gained a glossy sheen and it looks a bit weird. How have you fixed the headlamp bracket?

I got a nail, rounded off the head to make it rivet like, trimed the tail, drilled a suitable sized hole on the smokebox and Areldidted it in place, then secured further by a drop of superglue.
I'm not sure what your true reactions will be to the handrail, once it's painted it won't look like one of those things at the front of a chapel, anyhow, I like it, and it'll certainly make it unique

.

Certainly would make it unique, though expect the lampbracket to fall off every so often, my Brandbright one is araldited in and every so often the glue won't restick when its cooled down after a run and it'l fall off on the next run (the temperature melts the glue!)

Does baking the areldite help?
