I've been scheming up a pair of those coaches to match a recent diesel project, so guessing on this one feels like cheating!

Yes indeed, you are both correct.
The first photo is on one of the many zig-zags. The track reflected in the window is the final bit of the zag - we are on the middle bit of the zig
