I ordered and got 9mm high but now I think that is a little too big maybe 7mm or 8mm might have been big enough but that won't stop me using them

For sticking plates on, you could use superglue but be very careful to get them level. I have seen alot of 'plates on crooked.

Thanks I'll try that, I agree there do seen to be a lot of crooked name plates out there.

Would that hold on a mamods tank?

A very tiny slither of epoxy resin is better, as it gives you a bit of time to move the plates if neccesary. Measure where you want the plates to be (ie from the top or bottom of the tank) then "mark" this with a piece of masking tape (get the tape level!!) Then you can glue the plate using the tape as a guide. Remove the tape after about 20 mins, but leave the glue time to fully harden before doing the other side.
Or if you want something that won't be so permanant, then stick the plate on with a bit of sillicone sealent

That looks like a good system as I could do several sides of different locos at the same time then when dry the other sides.
