Thank you all - I will keep the updates coming.
I find driving the live steam locos is easier on a consistent gradient than the flat. It stops the Loco from running away going up and its difficult to stall the loco coming back down.
The only way I could get a consistent gradient is with these adjustable spirit levels. They are Stanley ones if you're wondering.
