Lady Anne Kit; Axle Problems

Post by Jerm » Sun Apr 20, 2014 12:49 am

Hello all! I've been away for a bit to concentrate on other matters but I'm back. And, I've recently acquired an old Lady Anne kit (ca. 1990). I'm still early in the construction but I've run into a couple of small issues. First of all, the bushings are not so easy of a press fit into the frame as the instructions suggest. Secondly, the axles are just a hair too big to fit into either the bushings, cranks, wheels or eccentrics. I've read and re-read the instructions but there's no indication that these parts should need any attention to fit. What would be the recommended course of action?

Give RH a ring next week, I'm sure they changed the dimensions of the axel they will be able to tell you more. Their support is great, wether you've bought something 2nd hand or brand new.

I had the same problem with axles not going into the bearings. The bearings had not been reamed out to the correct size. It seemed a batch got through without being noticed. I put the axle in a drill press and with fine wet and dry paper reduced the diameter. Didn't take to long. As for the axle bearings/ bushes, have you cleaned out all the old gunge or Locktite?

Lucky. I would love an old kit to build. That will be a nice engine. Oh yes, your original question: phone Roundhouse. They are very friendly and will definitely tell you what you need to know.
