The switch is easy: drill the hole for it before you assemble the kit (making sure you allow room for the block on the back of the switch inside the cab).

I put a battery box with a switch built in underneath the bonnet - this is wired directly to the reversing switch from which there's a feed to the headlight (which uses virtually no current) which them becomes the "Brian you've left the loco switched on" indicator. The supply goes to the middle two terminals of the centre off switch: the motor comes off one end and there are a pair of "cross over" wire from one end of the switch to the other which does the reversing.

I'm a teenager and it took me between 10-15 minutes with a soildering iron to wire my reversing switch...

The Ezee loco itself is very easy, take a look at mine:

One of the good things about an IP Rapier is that they can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be. I built mine with remote control, unfortunately the electronic gear fills a box van greatly reducing my Rapier's haulage capacity.

Make sure you buy the 4 wheel drive kit at the same time as it can't be retro fitted and you'll soon regret not having it.

Make use of the time to come up with a first-class design. Once the line is built changing it is hard work, so better to make your mistakes on paper than in concrete. I can't tell you how many goes I had to come up with a design I liked, but I'm glad I did. The only things I would change would require me to build my own points so NEGE! (Near Enough, Good Enough)
