I'm thinking signal box bell codes - the first two would "tie together" but I don't know 13....................

A clue: Always 8 in total, to begin with 4 followed; then 4 could push (or pull) and 4 could pull (or push) but eventually 8 are still and 4 follow again at 13 rather than 12.

Looking for a one word answer.

Taliesin was originally a single engine 0-4-4T in Whyte notation with one power bogie and one trailing bogie; after a hard life as the 'gentleman's light sporting locomotive' Taliesin I was 'retired' c.1927 and dismantled in 1932. Taliesin II (formerly Livingston Thompson) emerged on 3rd June 1932 (learnt that last week), which of course was a double engine 0-4-4-0T in Whyte notation. 8 and 4 are the number of wheels unlike the Whyte system that counts axles.

Eventually the 8 being still = preservation, another change of name and then 'stuffing' in Ebor.

The 4 follow again at 13 rather than 12 = new size and trailing bogie - Taliesin III

Look for me out of the window if you ever ride the Orient Express. I might be making steam, though I'm not a steamer. I've had five careful owners in two countries, though I've always worked on the same railway and it doesn't cross any borders. I wasn't the first to work here, though I have done for a century with the aid of a facelift after 50 years. They tried to replace me 20 years ago, but I'm still here hard at work all year round.
