Those who were interested in this project maybe interested in this link.

Seems a German Company already makes them, lovely model too!

Does look a very nice model, well machined too. Can he really mean that the gas tank is 100ml ? If so that means a huge run time coupled with the boiler

Looks like it's only in 32mm though.

Well it was built to 60cm gauge so would be about 32mm for 16mm scale???

Correct Ant, 16mm=1ft, so 32mm-2ft :)

Looks very pretty, I wonder weather we will see a example at peterbough this year?

Having rejoined the Association this year I've been interested in this project, but sadly ran out of time to view the 3 models on display at Peterborough.

There is little information available on-line (I guess it is all in previous issues of 16mm Today) but a guide price of £500 in 2010 seems a bit low to me.

Given that many small quantity produced 16mm items have been increasing in price well above inflation recently what would be the likely cost of this kit when it is finally released in 2014 (given the current timetable in the latest 16mm Today)?

Project Locomotive

So August 16mm Today has arrived, and Page 12 reveals all.

Estimated costs -

Parts provided by the Association £220
Parts provided by Roundhouse £615
Boiler £55

Total cost £890.

These prices do not include postage. Seems cheap for a boiler when you cannot get a Mamod/MSS replacement high pressure boiler for that, but that is offset by the high Roundhouse costs.

Be interesting to see what participation these costs will produce.

Isn't it just for the boiler materials?

From the conversation I had with the designer at Peterborough, I don't believe the cost of the boiler includes the fittings, which will be incorporated in the Roundhouse components.

Even so the price for the finished boiler shell seems very reasonable.

I'm interested having seen the real loco in action a couple of months ago, it will be something a bit different. Unless of course the interest is so high that it becomes more common than a commercial engine :D
