I've been told they are right royal pains to fit radio to so expect it to cost you a bit to get someone to retro- fit it to a second hand engine, or if fitting it yourself be prepared to have a puzzle about it!

New Haven Neil (he does post occasionally) has a track- shack radio fitted one and raves about it.

I can do RC fitting for less than the price Track Shack quote. I have a leader for sale in the for sale section.

Is that to the same spec. as Track Shack Matt?

I was very tempted by one of these but was put off by the price of the r/c version, and not trusting myself to not make a mess of doing it myself. Would still like one in the future, so I'll remember that 8)

Im not sure how track shack do it so I cannot comment. I have only done one but didnt find it as much of a challenge as everyone makes out, nice big tanks and plenty of underfloor room makes space no issue.

I don't know either, but by "same spec" I meant 2.4gigabobles and regulator and reverser control. Shoulda clarified that really.

To enable comparisons, and for the record the TrackShack version uses Planet 2.4GHz equipment, has on board rechargeables and includes a battery charger. The reversing servo is in the right hand side bunker, the switch is in the laft hand side bunker, the regulator servo is under the footplate along with the batteries and receiver. This leaves a cab footplate clear for the use of little people.

Leaders are very sweet little engine to run, and have a haulage ability far in excess of what you would think. I simply love them (and no this isn't an advert!)

Splendid Matt, I would therefore recommend anyone purchases the set up we both use, it is far better than some offerings I have seen.

So the final question to enable people to make a true comparison is does your 'improved' price include on board rechargeable batteries and a charger?

It dosn't, its a battery carrier on mine. I can do a battery pack and charger system but then with the price of NiMh batteries I would be meeting your price.

That's fair enough Matt, and I think its good that you offer the option to have either battery set up.

Happy steamings,

John
