Fixed cylinder or ossilator?
As Steamy Jim and I are having a argument on OilyRags topic of Iver, which steam technology is better? Ye olde ossilators, or big n powerful fixed cylinders? You vote, to decide which is better!

My friend certianly prefers his Lumber Jack over his Mortimer, but I guess it's a matter of opinion, I prefer to hear a chuff rather than a purr, as it's one of the things I enjoy most about locos. Who cannot prefer a good strong exhaustbeat?
You defied it with 'fun' Jim, they're more 'toyish' than fixed cylinders, yet I love the way geared ocsillators handle my railway's ups & downs!

Well if its a regner geared loco, thats ok as they have gears to maximise their power... But certainly fixed are more realistic, and sound great!SillyBilly wrote:My friend certianly prefers his Lumber Jack over his Mortimer, but I guess it's a matter of opinion, I prefer to hear a chuff rather than a purr, as it's one of the things I enjoy most about locos.
