Lovely loco, in terms of running characteristics how does she compare to her sister?

The railway which people forgot

Hasn't she got too many wheels to be a Mayflower Keith? I always thought they were 0-4-0s... She looks very well looked after any which way.

I've learned that things look good if you designed them in threes. Like simplexes, the cab & the bonnet take up two thirds together that makes them look so functional. Maybe even car design's like that, an estate car can have the bonnet taking up a third & the rest can be the interior. My dad taught me that.

I think it is a Steamlines model based on W.G.Bagnall loco

Funnily enough a friend of mine has an almost identical Merlin Major (works no. 329) - must be from about the same time as she too has the regulator cutout in the back of the cab (which I had never noticed before!). They are definately beautiful engines, and the working whistles are great fun

Looks good. The Mayflower and Major were good looking engines.
Do you have any Merlin track to run them on? I got rid of some only a couple of years ago but will look to see if I have any old pictures of it in use. Threading the sleepers onto the rails was always a bit risky! This picture shows someone who obviously had an extensive railway:

Works number 360, and you cant get closer than that

The problem I have is that I prefer the red to the black almost
Will have to get mine cleaned up soon and give it a run down at butterly!
