As read elsewhere I bought 'Anna', the Merlin Beck designed, Roundhouse built 0-4-0T. Now for the pics!
I absolutely love this engine, she ran beuatifully (although slightly jerky) when I was allowed to 'try before I buy' her.
By the way, she is Gauge 1 (claps of thunder). Now I am really hacked off I sold my LGB track!
Although if she was Gauge O, I doubt I would run her on my Mamod track, her weight and the deep flanges would cause unimaginable havoc!

Lovely engine mate! The only thing I have against those is the ridiculously sized pressure gauge. But perhaps it makes it easier to read!!!

Thanks!
When we fired her up, the casing expanded a bit and the pressure gauge face fell out

Once she had cooled down though it popped right back in
Strange how Roundhouse fitted them with bar pressure gauges, I would have thought that they would have fitted ones in lbs/ sq in. Although I can work in both bar or psi so it doesn't bother me too much!
There was an almighty shower though when the safety went off though, the engine and five other people were well and truly covered

Great Simon, I guess your going to get some 45mm track now? I personally don't like the knobs on these locos, but otherwise all it needs is some paint and a little dolling up and you'll have a superb loco, then again it's a piece of garden railway history as it is at the moment.
What about 45mm wheels for Victor soon

?

I think that when I get round to building a garden railway I will use dual gauge track...
In the meantime though I will just run her at my local Model Engineering Society as we have O and Gauge 1 tracks
As for regauging Victor, how dare you suggest such a thing

Nice looking loco Si.
When I read that you had bought it I assumed that it was 32mm, but this posting has confirmed it is 45mm.
Yes I understand that LGB track is very rare at the moment and commands above the new price at present on ebay.
Re-gauging Victor is actually very simple, just a set of Mamod/MSS 45mm wheels and some more gaskets to move the cylinders/pistons out. These were part of the SL1K kit package to allow a 32mm or a 45mm version to be built. Chasteam sells the 45mm kit for £12 but watch out for his postage charges!
I wonder how difficult it would be to build a dual gauge point for 32mm & 45mm?

Thanks to all who have commented
Andy, the only difference from the underside is that there is a bigger gap between the frames
I am keeping Victor 32mm, and you will never change my mind on that!
I won't do anything to Anna, as she is in original condition and I like her the way she is.
She will be steamed on and off, once a month at my local MES for now as they have a Gauge 1 Track.

What about a 45mm branch line on your garden railway?

I'm pretty sure I posted in this thread that I will lay some/all of the line in dual gauge track!

We all make mistakes Jim
Just received my first invite to a railway for a steam up! Albeit my engine will be the first and only steam engine to visit the line and the only one there!
