Any way, since this a compton related topic:

Does anyone know what the Compton Livery actually is (ie what colour)?

The fleet of rolling stock & some of the locos went to the browny red a couple of years back.

The steelworks & waterworks had their own livery which was light blue.

Or does rust count as a livery?.....

Some have brown/black/grey/orange light aerosol overspray to give a mucky industrial look.

As to actual colour matching, names of shades, helpful type info - I haven't come across any specific tins in the workshop as yet but if I find anything obvious I'll let you know - Dad did a lot by eye as well.

I'm starting to get the feel of Compton Grey now - for repainting the buildings & layout in. That's black/white/cream and whatever colours you have lying to hand including iron flour or rust, mud, sand, sawdust...etc...

The coaches (as top row) more maroon - wagons & industrial locos from browny red towards orange. One of the blue steelworks wagons just creeping into shot bottom left.[/img]

Wagons spotted yesterday morning in the 'marshalling yard'

there must be a little rubber stamp somewhere for this one - a lot of rolling stock bears logo...
