Ok, in an attempt to make my passenger stock updated, varied, less shabby and more GER I decided to convert one of my 4 IP 4 wheelers into a 4 wheel balcony end carriage in teak. The conversion of the panel work worked well and is easy to 'edit' with a sharp knife. However the paint was a problem. In trying to remove the awfully tough paintwork the remaing panel work started to wear down allarmingly quickly and the sides are allready dangerously thin!
So to rectify the situation I have a huge bin of coffee stirirs 1000 approx that I bought from costa for a pound! What do we think of a match board coach that has tumble home sides and balonys?
I can then teak them up and make it a proper job!

Even though the side panels are thin, I would of thought that it would be quite hard to sand right throught them. I look forward to seeing what you achieve with the coffee stirrers

So you think it sould look ok- I have never seen a tumblehome match side but then it could have been a design specific to the DVLR I suppose!
I am LASER cutting the ornate baclony ends as useuall!

Aslong as you stop sanding when the paint finishes and turns to wood shouldn't you be ok?

well you know I am in love with your carriaged dan! The balcony ends are like the Wisbeech ones so I am keeping the design local!!!

Only one side done and still the balconies to do but what do youthink?
Hav I ruined one of my carriages or made something unique and teak (well it will be)

I am starting to collect rather a motly rake of cariages,
theres the normal 2 compartment IPs
this balcony end
a penryhn open,
two bug boxes!
I think it could look rather nicely mish mash
I will add LASER cut balcony ends as well with DVLR writen in them somewhere!
