As you all know the exhaust can be made louder bya chuff pipe, but are there other ways ? Mamods have a sealed (mostly) smoke box so i thought i would try this on my Lawley so here is the result

It does sound good, and of course will change with load so it won't sound like it's on a 12carr train while shunting, but what about pulling the flame out of the tube?

In an accucraft smokebox there is a gap at the bottom to let the pipe work through, all i did was place a piece of aliminium on that gap. As far as i can tell Will it doesnt pull the fire at all

Hmmmm... interesting... now I am wondering what it would sound like with a Summerlands Chuffer AND a sealed smokebox !

Hmmm... sounds good that. That, and like we discussed, a bark box would sound great! Maybe I'll have to try what you did on my Edrig.
