Superb Grant.
Thanks for posting these, I was in need of a 'fix' of your wonderful railway. Your photos look good even when the railway isn't centre stage.

SHAY DAY.
The Shay raised steam today to run a short load of sawn timber down to Leawarra.
Pushing up hill from the mill. Pulling out of Warringine. Exiting "The Bump" tunnel. Grant.

SHAY DAY Contd.
Crossing Warringine Creek bridge. Rattling onto bridge No.1. Pushing the load past the shed to the yard beyond. Pity about the fence, (sigh!)

Stunning photographs! Are the wide sleepers on your track prototypical for Australian NG? They do seem to emphasise narrow gauge.

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Yes Phil, the track is code 250 Accucraft with Sunset Valley points, and chosen as the best representation of our narrow gauge. It still represents the heavier 60lb track presently used rather than the lighter rails used in my time period. But as it scales out to 2' 9 3/4inches it's all compromise.

Thanks Grant, that's interesting to know. I did notice your fence, but was too polite to commentLNR wrote: βSun Mar 16, 2025 10:33 pmYes Phil, the track is code 250 Accucraft with Sunset Valley points, and chosen as the best representation of our narrow gauge. Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
First train of Spring 2025 arriving at Warringine, Hunslet in charge.
Someone's enjoying the sunshine outside the new Mallee Shed.
Arriving at Nayook where the loco will run round to return in 1/2 an hours time to Leawarra.

Really atmospheric. I like that last shot with the garage in the background.

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Rik,
I've lopped nearly a foot of the tops of the two Cypress trees either side of the station building as they were getting so large, and heavily pruned the sides. I may have in fact killed them, hoping for new spring growth to prove I haven't.

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Once again Grant, I'm lost for words. It's a superb setting for a fantastic looking train. If services have only just resumed for the spring I look forward to lots more inspiration in the weeks to come.

It's nice when the weeds perfectly add to the right of way. How are you keeping it in check, scissors I presume?

Weed spray and diesel oil Aaron, though I do use scissors pruning the small trees.Old Man Aaron wrote: βTue Aug 19, 2025 10:07 pm How are you keeping it in check, scissors I presume?
