Has any one used a sanding sealant on wood carriages before painting ,what bland any suggestions on painting

I always use sanding sealer on plywood before painting. I'm currently using Phoenix Precision Paints own brand, but only because the local model shop has ceased trading, and I can't get the stuff they used to sell. Both are cellulose based.
