MSS water top up valve

Post by steamer68 » Mon Dec 18, 2017 3:37 pm

Hi I've been looking to upgrade some parts on my MSS engine and have noticed that Dream Steam have a water top up valve for MSS engines. Can I replace the whistle with the top up valve. :thumbleft:

No definitely not.
The top up valve replaces the whistle. The safety valve is exactly what it says it is. It is to release boiler pressure should this get too high.
Safety valves can be changed for an uprated valve that seals better and releases at a higher pressure.

Now with an mss loco I would have thought that something else would let go before the boiler burst if you didn't have a safety valve but I would not like to find out.

Sorry Jim my mistake I meant the whistle and not the safety valve also will it be worth upgrading the safety valve with an uprated one from dream steam.I will rectify this.
