I went to the LLechfan garden railway Gala this Saturday and got some early running slots. The attached video shows the first loco being run and then my Russell with the three coaches and then my GRS Hunslet.

We had the 11.30 and 12.00 slots then went for lunch in the station cafe.
Just finished in time for the 2.00 pm train which took about 2.5 hrs to get
back to Tywyn, a quick cup of coffee and a look around the museum and it
was time to set off for home. A long day but well worth it.

Recently I purchased a box labled 16mm narrow gauge from a collegue at
my local model railway club. It wasn't a completely blind purchase as I had spotted at least seven Big Big Trains tipper wagons in their boxes. After the purchase I had the chance for a good rummage and found a partially completed Saltford Models kit of a Simplex loco. It looked as if it could be set up to work on radio control using the space that the kit instruction said to use for 4 AA batteries. I already had a spare Deltang receiver and purchased a Zippy 350mah 7.2 volt LiPo battery which fitted the space nicely. The attached video shows it first outing on the OVLR and climbing the 1:40 incline that is part of this years extention programme. It wasn't the first loco onto the new level but it certainly was the first train.

Still a work in progress at some time I must change the 7mm scale wheels he used.

I went to the Elsecar Garden Railway show at the weekend and came home with a new Roundhouse Bertie. To the OVLR it will be No 11. After running R/C live steam and battery locos and free running battery locos, No 11 is a different thing altogether. I am still on the very steep part of the learning curve with this type of loco but I am getting the hang of the balance between the regulator and gas flow to get smooth slow running.

It looks like you've got it running very nicely, a handsome wee beastie too.

I must get my Bertie up and running again, I think I messed up the valve timing when I took various bits off to repaint the rods and wheels...

After two great days of running, the rains came to the Overdale Valley yesterday afternoon just after finishing a run of the new Lumberjack. One observation
made was that in the summer I must adopt a revised order for steaming up.
I have always adopted the

Gas
Oil
Water
then light-up routine and made up the train whilst waiting for the Loco to get steam up.
Steam Up comes so quickly in the warm weather that I am still fumbling with the couplings on the train when the safety valve lifts.
I am going to revise my routine to:-

Gas
Oil
Water
Make up train
Light up

I'm in the same boat as Rik, don't know how I missed this. But then I'm finding a lot missing now. Watching the video, do I see some pieces of hand laid track in the new spur?
