That sounds promising. Any chance of some more pics?LnBmad:102521 wrote:This thread needs an update!!!! Since the last post I have in my possession another part built l&b loco and the 2 of them have been fitted together to advance the project somewhat.

the second project was someone else's model of a manning wardle. it appeared as though the first person to start building it intended it to be steam, but it got chopped appart for battery electric at one stage. it needed some love but was the right scale and well made so it got added to my chassis. does mean i now have a spare set of frames and wheels spare
front and rear beams from grs arrive last weekend so i have begun tidying and fitting them. with the midland model engineering show being this weekend i'm hoping to pick up the parts needed for the boiler and next month order the valve gear.
still cant decide what style of boiler to make yet. proving to be a bit of an issue as i need to design the boiler.... thinking a meths fired pot boiler for simplicity.

Water gauge every time. I would rather have a water gauge over a pressure gauge. In fact the lack of water gauge is one of the major gripes I have with the smaller accuccraft locos. IMHO a pressure gauge is a nice luxury but a water gauge is almost essential if you fit a top up valve.
Once you know your loco a pressure gauge is somewhat surplus to requirements.

ran a pot boilered archangel with pressure gauge but no level gauge, as soon as id worked out in my head what i had to play with it was just a case of topping up meths as required and maybe top up oil, run length 40-50 minutes on one boiler full, if id had a top up valve and gauge possibly even longer...

So now the chassis has been running on air I began looking at firing and boilers again.... After many hours of changingy mind I finally settled on a meths fired pot boiler with a chick feed meths burner. A bit of playing in the workshop later and the sump and burners have been made and tested on the chassis.
