Splendid.
More information please.
Have I been reading about one of them in SMT?

I have a soft spot for pot boilers, possibly because I have never really liked having a fringe or neat eyebrows!

The VOR was written up for SMT a couple of years ago.
The blue one is a South African railways NG4 built by Kerr Stuart and the green one is another South African Railways locomotive "Midget" built by Manning Wardle.

I like the green one very much!

If the loco has side tank pot boilers make good sense as the boiler capacity is much larger and therefore you can have a good long relaxing run without the need to run around with a top-up bottle!

You can't beat a good old (or in your case new) pot boiler! 8)

That's a lovely line-up... The green one's my favourite (it looks like a colonial L&B loco), although I spent 5 years living in Aberytswyth so I feel a bit of a traitor to the VoR tank!

All the best,

Andrew.

Thanks all for your kind words.

In answer to your questions.......

Each one has taken about a year to build, I have to fit it in when I can. What with going to work & life in general!

I don't have any immediate plans to start building another locomotive. A period of consolidation now, Sgt Murphy needs new axle bushes and I need to do some experimentation with restricting the top speed of my Gosling Chassis pot boiler Hunslet Vaenol.

Midget is due to have it's lining applied by Matt Acton around Christmas time so I'll post a couple of pix when it's all together again.

lovely stuff!

I can't help but wonder if my Millie would be an effective meths fired loco.

I've always wondered if the fact that Roundhouse use a Millie for the diagram about Meths firing on their website is an attempt to make someone actually try it....

I have a suspicion that the boiler has about the same capacity as the original 0-4-0 meths fired Lady Anne's...

I like pot boilers as my end-to-end railway tends to involve a lot of shunting, so stopping every twenty minutes to boil the kettle is not a popular notion.

I keep looking at the various iterations of the Beyer Peacock 2-4-0/2-6-0(T) design and wondering what bits and pieces are out there would help that project on its way.

Cheers,
Peter in AZ
