Hi All
I have a finescale peckett which has a jammed whistle valve
The loco runs as the valve is in the off position but I would like to free the valve to get the whistle going again.
I have taken the nut cover off removed the spring but the valve is well and truly stuck, need to release it but don't know what to use
Tony

Tony,
It seems the valve spindle has bedded its self into its seat. Try the following. Having undone the gland nut, turn the loco on its front and drop kettle descaler down the shaft and let it soak for a few hours before gently trying to move it again. If its no good try a little W.D 40.
It's best to leave all valves open when the loco is not in use. The brass seems to stick together other wise. Have you checked to see if the whistle handle is slipping on the shaft?.
