As with all "supply and demand" items what a genuine buyer is willing to pay, or with an auction what the highest of two bidders is willing to pay.
eBay madness
Re: eBay madness
Re: eBay madness
Mmmm, I don't do this hobby to be a collector though. I do it to enjoy the hobby, building models and running (When it's possible) locos.
I would be scared stiff of running that loco at £2,400 with no remote....The horror to see it fall off the tracks, like they do if people are honest when they run theirs....
Still everyone to their own and if someone what's to spend that kind of money, that's ok with me...

Re: eBay madness
It’s worth remember this is also the original Blanche/Linda model as opposed to the more common Charles that they re-released. I know this loco personally and it’s is in excellent condition, spending a lot of time in a display case. I also know of the tendered version of this loco (unlined) selling for similar money recently.
Thanks

Re: eBay madness
Rod mentioned that this particular Blanche does not have radio control. That can be quickly and easily remedied without much further outlay.
Another factor that has to be considered is the lining, in that it has been lined! Geoff Munday's recent retirement from LightLine has created, I feel, a bit of a bottleneck with regards to getting locos lined. Certainly I have had a more than normal number of requests to line locos recently, and I suspect the others who do it professionally are in the same situation.
This would be the ideal loco for somebody who wants a lined one ... now!

A real bargain, this one; and a highly informative description to boot!

Re: eBay madness
A case of ebay madness from another perspective..... I recently offered an item for auction, which 'sold' to a prospective buyer with a feedback score of 7 at 100%.
However, when he failed to complete the transaction I looked at his feedback reports and 4 of them said he is not trustworthy, should be avoided at all costs and be barred from ebay. I contacted him and he has no intention of paying, but it cost me the insert fee and I may still be billed for commission, unless ebay take notice of my report to them not to due to the circumstances? How can he still be allowed to stay and continue his fraudulent behaviour?
A second listing of the same item is currently awaiting delayed payment..... again!
That is what I call ebay madness!

The loco is - a chimney! Maybe that's why it's described as "incredibly rare"???steamgeorge wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 8:32 am Think there might be too many zero's on this one or am I missing something..........

Ebay are taking the preferable mate. They are making money on this also by not getting the guy banned. When I buy off eBay, I have always paid when I win it. What's the point in withholding monies or being late paying, unless there is a problem somewhere with the transaction.

Re: eBay madness
The description is a bit odd as well. Starts off by saying it was purchased for him as a child by by his father but then later says he ran it when he purchased it!

Re: eBay madness
I've got one of those. GRS body on an LGB chassis, but painted as DUKE. And it has got a chimney.steamgeorge wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 8:32 amThink there might be too many zero's on this one or am I missing something..........
Not wishing to rip anybody off, I'd let it go for £1800...
Re: eBay madness
Hey, come on chaps, that price does include postage .......
The previous item mentioned on here had a postal charge of £120 so this must be a bargain.....
Isn't it?????

Re: eBay madness
Well I'm thinking of buying this one AND Tony's. And then breaking the chimney off Tony's one so I've got matching pair...

It seems that it's not only on eBay that the profit hungry madness strikes
Fancy some wheels anyone (normally around £20 a pack)
