Hi everyone,

I just acquired a Mamod SL1 loco. First ever live steam model.

Should I be looking out for a particular type of butane bottle?

I bought some camping ones, and they don’t have any thread to screw onto? So my brass attachment is useless.

Hi,
Sorry you've had to wait so long for a reply. There certainly used to be an adapter to fit the threadless 'camping gaz' type canisters (A4, I think, is the classification), because I have one - it just slips over the nozzle on the canister and activates the release mechanism as you press down. Unfortunately I can't remember who I purchased it from (at a show, IIRC).
BUT - all is not lost - you can get adapters to convert A4 cartridges to the more common threaded fitting. Hope that helps.
