Severn Valley & Paddock Garden Railways 4th May 2015

Day Two of the Bank Holiday travels saw the tour move onto the Paddock Garden Railway, a favourite location of mine.
Our steed for the trip...

A new friend at Hampton Loade - one of the ELR lads had brought down his meths fired IP Jane, 'RAGNAROK'.
Ragnarok impressed in steam too.

Swordbreaker was soon steamed up - and needed only 1/3 turn on the regulator before it was chomping at the bit. Today was the real reinauguration of the 'Chickens' Rake after the Guards Van had an accident last autumn.

Cricceth Castle sent to retrieve the coaches and bring them back
With the 'reverse' profile of shorter bonnet in lead, it takes on a look-a-like of the RHDR diesels does it not?

At the same time, the old gas burner unit had had new ceramic cut for it. It was brought down where the ELR lads kindly provided some silicone sealent to get it secured in place.
One had not been expecting the big 'grease gun' the ELR TEAm brought to do the job but the assistance was muchly appreciated - a small freebie, as part of a larger contract that ELR have been awarded!
The gas burner may be restored to 'Swordbreaker' - but the RWM 'metal box' Was roaring like a torch that day now it was free of obstructions and did rather well for itself.

A refresher for driver, and a clean and rubdown for engine at the King & Castle pub to top off what had been a great day in Shropshire!
