Edrig

Post by andysleigh » Tue Nov 20, 2007 8:33 pm

i finally recieved my edrig on saturday.
after a good day at kew bridge model steam show, i got home, looked in the front room, no parcle, looked in the dining room, no parcel, so i gave up and made a drink, turn to go out the kitchen, and what do i see but a big parcel hiding behind the front door.
the natural thing for me to do is, get some scissors and rip it all open.
it was very well packed, with some seful foam.

i finally got it out after a while removing tonns of packaging.
one of the first things i would do is, take some pics, but, i lost my camera..... which was anoying because i could take some pics at kew, and there were some good things i would have like to have photographed.

as it was dark, wet and cold outside i didnt steam it first thing...i did it later that night.. in the cold...wet and dark...

despite that, it was great.

it still needs some running in i think, and i have been told that after a few months running it will triple in performance!!.

less chatter more pics..
taken on sunday morning

thanks to dad (boilertite) for taking the pics.

on monday i got it steam tested at my local club (guildford model engineering society) (G.M.E.S), and did the mad thing of walking through a field to the outdoor layout. when i went down, it wasnt raining...much.. but was very cold and windy. then it started to rain. alot...
and got very very wet, my heavy coat weighed about twice as much later and is still drying.

i am now working on making some stock just for it.
i already started making a flat bed bogie wagon. the bogies are accually Binnie Engineering bolster wagon chassis.
£7 for just the pair, so i shall be getting some more of them sometime.

yep. it will go almost any speed and stay on the track.

i bought a water filler for it for £10 which is good value, because from some other places they are about £17

Atleast that was the speed, and not the treads on the wheels.

I've got enogh money. The problem is that I've got a mum who won't let me make big purchases. When I ask her if i can buy a Edrig the repiles are oftern
'What about the engines you've got at the moment?'
'Your going to have to buy a car in a couple of years time'.
'You never play with the railway at the moment'.

You can see why I get very annoyed sometimes.

Well, in answer to the car replie, I hate cars. They're destroying the planet, and most to me are ugly.

If I had the choice between getting for free a good car, or a Lady Ann, I'd take the Lady Ann.

I'd take the GOOD car, because I could sell that and get 2 or 3 Lady Anns!!!!! And that's from a person who does like cars! I won't stray too far off topic, but airliners that are flying in the air this very moment I think are worse than cars (sorry plane lovers!). And fossil fuel powerstations!

Has anyone used the ACME eng. smaller pressure gauge on their Edrig? Any good? What about the MLW chuff pipe?

Tag Gorton has one on his Edrig, and from the photos that are in the book of it, it looks very nice.
