Scorton Bank Railway Summer Steamup

Post by laalratty » Sun Aug 11, 2013 9:21 pm

The Scorton Bank Railway held its first summer steamup for a couple of years yesterday, and once again good weather saw a good turnout although most NWAG members seemed happy to sit in the sun and watch the trains rather then run something. This did make the running rather relaxed and there were very few operating incidents just to prove that we can do things right sometimes...!
Here are some pics
Image
First out was Francis' Corrie with a short train
Image
This engine used to be an Edrig, the addition of a Simply 7/8ths body kit turned it into Baldrick
Image
PTLRcecil brought Konigs Tun, which is now finally performing properly, like you would expect a garratt to perform even!
Image
Me and my uncle took two locos, first out was Taliesin with my FfR rake
Image
Andel Ffion out with a short train past the goods shed at Wyre Bay
Image
FR Thunderbolt was there in spirit, as Simon had also brought Fairfield for a visit following fitting of a summerlands at the PTLR works. Simon fits these incorrectly so that the sound is enhanced, but not the full on shouting chuff you usually get, also meaning when a loco is working light engine or on a short train or downhill, the sound is actually in proportion. It sounds much better then the usual Summerlands chuff in my honest opinion...

Lady Yvonne from the Stanwix Light Railway
Image
LMS jools brought his Fowler and a long goods train
Image
This was my uncles second engine, his newly purchased Locobox NGG11 Afrakarn. It is to have several mods, and a repaint into a colour that is actually sensible.... We've already decided on a name, "Scafell", continuing with the theme round here of naming Garratts after mountains. For once, this purchase had little to do with me!

Ayepad Ed's Rheidol tank with appropriate train

The usual crazy double header, Taliesin and Fairfield this time
Image
A final shot of Konigs Tun
Many thanks to SBR Arthur for a great afternoon
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Taliesin runs ok, just requires a bit of a different driving style, it does like to go fast with its big driving wheels

Glad you liked it. Incidentally the loco is a former Longlands and Western Railway fleet member
