PTLR Bleak Midwinter Steamup

Yesterday the North West Area Group of the Association of 16mm modellers emerged from its winter hibernation at the Pine Tree Light Railway, the earlier steamup then usual for them being because PTLR fest will be much later this year due to engineering works (on the house). As it was after over a month without a steamup a large number of members turned out and a good number of trains was run
Going round when I arrived was PTLRcecil's latest aquisition, a Locobox Darj (previously owned by Barnacle Bay Charlie) now named Konigs Tun and also now able to actually pull a decent train instead of just the skin off a rice pudding. There are still a few steam leaks on it though leading to atmospheric pics like this...
Locos lined up on shed, I bought Taliesin and Russell
Taliesin passes resident Jenny, which has been repainted into Penrhyn black for this year at least
Rhoda from the IMR with a short goods

The coal fired Yeo was back in action and performing very well indeed following an overhaul by the Rhos Helyg Loco Works
A very fine addition to the locos seen at NWAG events is this lightlined Roundhouse Mountaineer owned by Ayepad Ed, it looks brilliant with my carriages. Need more money!!
In addition to the overhaul and partial repaint, Tony also fitted 2.4Ghz radio and skillfully put all the radio gear onto the loco meaning it no longer has to run with a wagon behind and making bunker first running feasible

Scrumpy Jack enters Sleighton Heathers
A special day on the PTLR indeed, since the other pride of the line Black Combe was also out, and being driven by its builder Chris Fletcher, formerly Mr Locobox. Chris is getting back into 16mm modelling (he's ordered a Ragleth) but not into building locos again
Meanwhile Russell was being driven by the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway office boy/jack of all trades who I invited down for a bit of 16mm action. Glad to say he enjoyed himself
Russell on Jubilee bridge, it handled the 7 car train with ease

Black Combe enters Sleighton Heathers
The final train was the usual double header with locos from me and Simon. We thought big this time, really big! Russell and Konigs Tun were put onto the front of the 22 coach train, in drizzle and fading light it was spectacular! Konigs Tun's steam leaks plus the exuast coming from both locos piled high into the air in a spectacular display!
Many thanks to all at the Pine Tree Light Railway for kicking off the NWAG year so well, here is to several more successful steamups!
