DIY water tower

Not as good as my coal staithe, but I made this water tower from a couple of old tin cans and a soap dispenser.
Then the water reaches towards the top of the tank it overflows down a tube and to the arm of the old soap dispenser.
Well, it is a bit of fun, and only cost a squirt of paint.

wow neat!!! I need to make one, but it's probably going on the side of a plank (so a low relief type), but I want it to work somehow. I was thinking of making it working with a pump bottle that connects up behind the wood plank, so I can fill my Edrig prototypically (nearly!!).

What about just having a valve but making the tower higher than the locos. Then you just use gravity to feed the boiler and the valve to control the flow

It's been done in Garden Rail recently Jim.

Think I would be a bit concerned about getting bits of dirt in the boiler, would have to be careful about keeping everything clean.

I said low releif! So cant have a proper one, because it would be only the front of the tower!

You could have a semi circular tank?

no: 1) because I need a very flat front for clearances, and 2) whats the point, it would hold enough water (we aint just filling up Mamods here Jim, Edrig has a huge boiler).

What about a hand pump mounted in the fake tank? With a realy tank hidden somewhere-lineside hut or similar

Because when you use a syringe it doesn't take 10mins to fill the boiler.

I just built a water crane using a wndscreen washer pump to pump the water up a pipe through the track base through a dummy water crane into the locos. Will put up some pics tomorrow!
