Right, who is going to be the first person to buy one, then cosmetically improve it an ruin its value?
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

And such premium priced special editions put it even closer to the price of a Roundhouse basic engine.....

Bizarre!
The "Select Quantity" only lets you choose between 1 and 10

Light travels faster than sound, which is why some people appear bright until they speak.

To quote the website,
'The loco is built on the successful of the Mark II
oscillating engine chassic'
Do we have to re arrange the words to make a proper sentance?
and whats a chassic?

I would be interested to find a Roundhouse 'Bertie' going for 330 or at a push, for say 375. I have seen one of these for real and actually was taken by it.

Absolutely
no sensible comparison between the two loco's whatsoever, so why compare the prices?

The Mamods of today are nothing compared to the Mamods of Yesturday. The old Mamods are ALOT more fun!

that's a fiver more than I paid for a secondhand Edrig
I don't see it as a good investment either, the older limited editions aren't worth a great amount, probably get two for the price of this one.

On a related note, does it infuriate anybody else that there are no decent-sized pictures on the Mamod site?

The images are small to leave more room for the prospective buyers imagination!

The image is an impression of how far you need to stand away from the model before it looks acceptable.

The original Mamod loco was far better looking, the new mamod loco as they call it just doesnt look right and this is even worse. Im sure someone will buy it as a collectors item but thats all it will be.
