Dream steam upgrade cylinders, buyer beware

I currently have another members Mamod that is fitted with these cylinders. I have also fitted them to one of mine and have found this fault with both sets.

If you look where the cylinder and port face meet, you can clearly see daylight coming through. A few people have said this will run in however the brass used is quite hard so will take a very, very long time to do so. Im not saying don't buy the cylinders but its something to look for before putting them on the loco.

:shock: Even I should have spotted that! :oops:

The lesson is to never assume anything - the last pair I had were perfect (old stock?), so I just took it for granted that these would be :cry:

Dan,

I might need to book in a job for you as I have a set of these...and the loco ain't working at the moment... :shock: [have already eliminated the reverser block as the possible cause; still need to check the gas burner for sufficient heat as hot ater leaks through...]

I have found on all the parts I have bought from them lately that quality varies considerably. Its not been a problem for me to sort these things out (aside from being a drag) but its not good to supply things to people who may not be able to sort it, as I said in an email to them once.
