The MHLR no longer exists, now only within my memory...
Helford Halt: demolished.
The railway by the beautiful Helford River...
Mawnan Junction: demolished.
Maenporth Bank: demolished (in process of).

I have to say you had a cracking location for your line and that'll be hard to beat! You've given us all much pleasure - may you do so again soon!

I imagine that will be the case for many of us, especially those in Shropshire...
Really sad to see the MHLR going, a line that really has had its full life cycle told on here, from birth to extension to consolidation to death. Very glad that I got the oppotunity to visit too, thanks Pete and may the new line be just as good, if not better!

I'm afraid the new line won't be, I don't plan to do anything as extravagant this time as I have got busier with other things, going to uni up there and I don't run trains as much as I used to, or get the time to maintain things. The new line will be in a standard fenced back garden, so I expect it may end up being a sort of dog bone type layout raised or ground level.
But yes, I will be nearer a lot more members of the forum. Plus the Portland Railway featured in the latest SMT lineside pass is about 1/2 mile up the road from my new house.

Such a very sad sight to see one of Cornwall's best ever railways gone! it will most certainly be missed!
But still we all look forward to the re-build

A sad sight indeed, odd to see familier locations of the line now laid bare. Still you best get yourself sorted & come over then neighbour....

Shame to see an empty track bed always a sad moment. Ive noticed that bit about Portland too so will have to find out what the score is. To echo Shane, once I get something down your always more than welcome to call over for a run.

Sad to see it gone, but waiting with interest to see what happens next. Maybe meet you some time at Shane's or elsewhere in the vicinity. Whereabouts are you heading to Uni?

I always look forward to "catching up" with the Forum when I've been working away - not this time though!
I know it's been on the cards for a while, but it's still a bitter pill to swallow
