7/8" Mamod - in Slow Motion

Post by Chris Bird » Mon Aug 01, 2011 10:48 pm

Hi folks
I modified this Mamof back in the 1980's to look a bit Heywood-ish and thought I would try it with some 7/8" stock and figures. The driver insisted on going too fast for the camera so I edited most of it at half speed. Needless to say, this makes the chuff sound deeper.

I noticed the brake van roof on editing - but a bit too late by then.... :(

You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2Hz25lP26k

Cheers
Chris

:hello2:   --  In the immortal words -- Ab Fab !

Exhaust beat is every bit as crisp as Pretoria's  :D  This technique may well catch on.

Thanks for the kind words guys - and I may be biased, but I do think it is better with the sound :D

Brian - most of the chunky stock was written up in GR192.

And Pretoria - well, what can I say - that is one beautiful loco!

Well a standard Mamod is a rare beast! An original one working on low pressure may have slightly less chuff and do remember that there is just the one clip at normal speed on this video.

My other Mamod has a new boiler but a standard smokebox and chimney. You can see it at full speed here:

As with all locos, the heavier the load and the slower the speed, the clearer the chuff.
