I bought this Big Big train Ruston back in October. Didn't realise how fast it went! So I finally bought a speed controller from Andel Models and it runs right nice! Just cosmetics like drilling the front grill out, cutting out the door, paint! (maybe green or blue), control panel for the switches and potentiometer, and a proper seat for the driver and fill in the gaps in the sides with plasticard where the switches were. Cut the top of the cab off yesterday aswell

Maybe you would like to pm me and I will give you some other ideas what you can do with your Ruston!

Just an update

Finished making the control panel which just needs a drop of glue to hold it in place. Thinking about what to use for a handle for the speed controller as the cabs quite tight to get your hand in. Any ideas?

Looking good! Perhaps you can drill a hole in the knob and run a small brass rod trough it. Sort of like a lever.

A little bit more work done

Drilled out the front grill. Just need to add some mesh. New speed control lever in the cab as well which makes controlling the loco a lot easier! Bit of copper wire will be added for a handle.

I was going to suggest that you could make the speed controller into an exhaust pipe but your lever solution is great.

That was an idea I had in mind but the speed controller is not as smooth as I hoped but having a lever means I can nudge it slightly to make fine adjustments

It's easier to see where its set at too. An excellent solution.
