Well, the day has come to order the first of 3 kits to build a Lady Anne. Later today I shall be placing an order with Roundhouse Engineering, Doncaster for the Lady Anne Chassis kit. Over the coming months I will be posting details of my progress, along with piccies so you can see how its going!

At last, I will finally be on track to owning and running my own gas fired, reliable, non-mamod loco!

Cecil: Lets hope this project gets further off the drawing board than the Iver!!  :lol:

Now thats a good way of buying an expensive loco-by it in bits over a long time, and then build it! What's thios about the Iver.

About 4 years ago I managed to pick up a 45mm Cheddar Iver off eBay fairly reasonably priced. When it arrived it was practically mint. Still stiff as it hadn't even steamed enough to run it in! However, due to the design, rebuilding to 32mm meant a heck of a lot of work, including changing it from inside to outside framed, which I wouldn't have had a clue how to do at the time. And PTLRsam just didnt have the time to do the drawings and work etc, so it ended up being put back on ebay, along with my old tablet fuelled mamod. Instead I ended up with my current mamod (YDG), which had been previously modified by PTLRsam for its old owner, which you (Matt) subsequently knocked off the rails, dislodging the chimney and chuff pipe! (Nothin a bit of epoxy didnt solve!)
Can't remember if I made a profit on Iver when it went on eBay, but I do remember both the loco's I sold were bought (about a month or 2 apart) by the same buyer, in JAPAN!

Wow ! Thats a long way to post an engine.

The order has been made! Werhoo! It will be sent out by courier tomorrow, but because they don't deliver at weekends, it will arrive on Monday, which is great because that will be my next day off work!

Yes it is a long way! and there were 2 separate occasions they got sent too! My eBay ads after that read

Sounds good! Perhapos it's a bit late to mention the one which is rather cheap in the 16mm Assoc. Magazine, which only turned up today !

When I first looked at getting a Cheddar Iver secondhand, the 45mm versions were only available. However a phone call to Cheddar Models at that time (they were still in business) advised me that it would be very difficult to regauge this model as you found out. I hope you did not lose out on having to resell it on ebay.

Good luck with yer Lady Anne bungle, look forward to seeing it at the ANLR when its finished. Any thought about what colour your going to paint it?

Not really given much thought to the colour of her yet. Its gonna be a few months before I have to start thinking about that, as I now have to save up the £330ish for the boiler and burner kit!

I'll make sure I take loads of photos along the way for you all to see. Probably wont be very interesting, but you'll see the progression. Hopefully!

By the time you've saved enough for all those upgrades, you could get a Edrig or something!

Now come on I'm sure that it would be more fun then getting an edrig, even if its more expensive. Plus Edrigs are getting really common on this forum!

The money i spent on the chassis kit would have gone a long way to getting a budget engine, but I wouldnt get the pleasure, fulfilment and feeling of accomplishment that i am sure i will get from building the lady anne.

Also, I still have a lot to learn about the workings of our beloved 16mm locos, and this is a great hands on opportunity to get that knowledge!
