Today the weather was fine so I got Jack out for its first run on the line, it was a pleasure to run once Id got the hang of the RC and its lag.

it runs well and is so smooth that it will glide for a couple of meters after steam is shut off, makes it fun to drive.

I've always liked jack. A powerful workhorse yet small and compact, perfect for small railways!

My Jack is my "special" loco - I like the manual locos (on lines I know) but if I'm on a strange line......... out comes the Jack!

PS What do you call a man with a car on his head???

R/C is looking nicer and nicer to me. I still like to drive the engine though.

You drive the loco with R/C though? Control the speed, open up on gradients and shut down when going down, slow down realistically into stations etc etc. Much better for videos too, no 'hand of god' in the frame

Looking good Pauly, I reckon it needs some wooden coaches painted in Victorian Maroon to go with it

Jack was discontinued as it was unpopular due to its "chunky" looks, with some/most/all people thinking it was a too big to represent a typical narrow gauge 0-4-0. Roundhouse's solution was Katie, which looks smaller but uses an IDENTICAL chassis to Jack.
