An MSS saddle tank!

Image

and I couldnt resist it, it just looks so good 8)

the rockery railway is desperate to get in on the steam preservation game. Those steam nuts could bring in plenty of cash.

so this has been purchased from a local iron works.

Beware of the wheels on those things - they tend to fall off :?

I reckon it would be cool to put the good looking body of one of those onto a Jane(t) running chassis and boiler etc... Then it would be a perfect little engine. I know you wouldn't want to though?

Looks good ! Welcome to the burnt finger club !
MSS upgrade kit is good value (meths burner, higher pressure safety valve, water top-up valve and water bottle).
Don't forget lubrication !!!!

See Garden Rail November for advice on maintenance.

Happy Steamings !

I wouldnt fita dreamsteam upgrade kit to this!

meths burner is a big no-no, that saddle tank is going to hold unbunt fumes and would be an accident waiting to happen so Ill just stick with the tablets for now.

cant fit an uprated SV because I wouldnt be able to get it out of the saddle tank

cant fit a filler valve because there isnt a whistle valve to screw it into.

I've fancied one of those, how powerful is it compared with the standard SL1?

I did like the look of those but I'm a bit put off by not being able to run it on meths. Can they be gas fired?
