Rerelease of Excelsior - but as 'Leader'

Post by mhlr » Fri Oct 02, 2009 12:29 am

Accucraft UK are working on a new 0-4-2st in live steam for late 2010, this is the Sittingbourne & Kemsley ‘Leader’ 0-4-2ST
This will be a re-built and enhanced design based on the previous ‘Excelsior’ . Being a prototypical scale model of a big industrial saddle tank suitable for both 32mm and 45mm gauge I think this will fill a gap in many folks collections.

They have also announced another batch of the L&B ‘Lyn’ 2-4-2T to go with the new L&B bogie coaches due late 2010, full details not yet announced

I presume it'll have the big cylinders, and that you'll want one Pete!

I just wish Accucraft would finish the back track of projects rather than start new ones.

Sounds a lot like Bachmann, take the 4-Cep for example!

I'll certainly be putting my name down for a Leader, as well as a Lyn and rake of coaches :D

It appears to be how Accucraft functions, announce new products years in advance, then clear some old stuff presumerbly to allow space in the factory for the model and then bring it in to production, just for it to inevertably go out of production again after 3+ years (think Edrig, Lyn, Superior, Baguley, Joan, Mortimer, NGG16 etc etc) Still look forward to seeing what they come up with. If the price is right they'll probably sell more of these then Ragleth

"It's a bit big isn't it?"

Sounds interesting, although I do wish they'd complete the L&B range. I would really like a L&B 2-6-2 without the massive price tage from DJB engineering.

Oh I wish I had a Kerr Stuart saddle tank- Oh wait I already do! I don't think I'll be being a Leader but it sounds nice. I don't think it would have enough problems to give me something to grumble about, drink tea over and fix! I'd like to sea a piccy though!

Roundhouse L&B 2-6-2s are still available ... if you know who to talk to! (Hint: me)

A lot depends on how much you want one, and how much you are prepared to pay.

Well, idealy, I would like a L&B 2-6-2 in 'Lew' style.

I'm hoping that when accucraft finally bring it out, it won't be any more expensive than the W&L 'Countess/Earl'.

Anyone who doesn't read GSM will be thinking you have a direct line to Accucraft Pete

I think you'll find it's more of an indirect link really ;)

And I think you'll find that's why I added " ;) " and " " after it.

I know, I was trying and totally failing to think of a witty retort. I'm rubbish.

The leader I like the sound of after seeing what the ptlrsams exelcior can do. However I like the Idea of a lyn personally. I had custordy of one for a few months and although it had a habit in the past of shooting off, crashing, nearly hitting small children in the face etc I want one.

UPDATE FROM ACCUCRAFT

At work today we received the first pic of the prototype. At present, unfortunately but bearing in mind it is the prototype, it just looks like Excelsior with some Milton Loco Works dress up parts on.

I've said provisionally I'll have one dependant on how much more it progresses before it is released.

It looked rather nice in blue, though!

I've currently got one on order from track shack. I've since mostly made up my mind that I'm not going to get it though. You may have noticed that I change my mind rather alot. I've now got my mind set on a russell. Reason being that although I like the sittingbourne and kemsley locos, I prefer the welsh highland and I already have some stock to go with it, a cut down russell will be something different, yet leader won't because loads of people will have one before long. We'll see what it looks like though, you never know. :D

Also has a sight glass.

Hmm, Can't say I'm overly impressed with that, I think it would look much better in S&K green but pretty sure I'm going to cancel the order :?
