Seeing the last (amazing) Peckforton Light Railway video, I need some wagon inspiration Would anyone mind sharing some nice loaded wagons..

I've some 3d Printed barrels that need to hit the paint shop.. But I'm wondering about building up a few more open wagons and getting them loaded..

Only pictures of members models are allowed, no "real" railway pictures and no major editing are accepted. Your efforts in this thread look very acceptable and it costs nothing, so why not give it a go!

Railways carried all sorts of loads, including some rather unusual ones. Circus trains anyone? Or if you struggle to find a specific load, why not model a tarpaulin draped load? Then the load can be [almost] anything you like.

Below is is my latest load, I may see if I can do something for the Gallery with it. Though I also have a more conventional load picture in mind.

Do readers know or recall Peasholme Park in Scarborough and the miniature naval battles on the lake? Well someone has to make the models and then move them to their new home. So... Vulcan Works hired a special train for their latest engineering project. I have the ships (naval and merchant) for another two one plank wagons, so in due course we could have a short train of a very unusual load.

They are nice little models. 1:1250 scale. They came from De Agostini via a wholesaler in the days when I was running a model shop. I have an interest in ships as well as trains and bought a few for myself. I think I picked them up for about £3 each, which I thought was quite a bargain. Various sellers seem to still have them - e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/deagostini-shi ... tini+ships Amazon I'm afraid and the prices seem to have shot up but it might be worth having a look round online.


As well as providing loads for SM32 wagons, I also used them for a quiz back in the days of Covid lockdowns when we were all confined to our houses and work was done online. Management gave us all time for a regular team meeting to have some social time and boost morale, quizzes were popular with our team and one day I included the well known WW2 battleship recognition round... A bit of a 'do not adjust your set' moment for most but a couple of those with little knowledge of such things made some perceptive comments about design differences between Allied and Axis vessels. And one of our number was particularly interested in heavy naval units and it made his day!
