Mamod points fixing

Hi I am a newcomer to this and am trying fix a set of Mamod track points to a wooden base. There is a hole in the assembly near the points lever for securing the points assembly, but if I use a normal screw into the board, the head of the screw interferes with the smooth movement of the points lever. Has anyone else ever encountered this problem? Am I being thick? Thanks Edwin

Hi Edwin.
No idea about the answer to your question I'm afraid ( somebody else almost certainly will though), but welcome to the forum. :D

Hi Edwin!

I must have done this on a previous layout, which used Mamod track, but I don't recall exactly how I did it!

Looking at pictures, I'd suggest simply avoiding using those particular holes. You've got holes you can use at the other end of the point, and you can screw down the adjoining piece of track too - so you don't need to use the ones under the moving point blades.

I don't know your set up, but i doubt you need to secure every piece of track anyway - every other one should be sufficient. I wouldn't screw it down too tightly, in case you need to pack underneath it to allow for any slight irregularities in your baseboard.

Good luck with it,

Andrew.

Thanks for the advice re avoiding that particular hole, and just relying on the adjacent track sections. I shall do as suggested.
