Vintage footage
Vintage footage
I just came across this video/film of a 1935 trip on the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. There are a few station scenes which I found useful as I'm currently trying to build a small waiting room.
Re: Vintage footage
A great find! I don't remember seeing this before. Some really great shots including a double headed train.

A wonderfully nostalgic journey through magnificent scenery and outstanding and impressive civil engineering.
No wonder it failed, they spent too much money doing the job correctly and in some style.

The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

It's a great piece of filming. I've always felt that Lynton was missing some element - a 'je ne sais quoi' if you will. I think the railway is it - it justifies the cliff railway and the lovely architecture in an otherwise isolated town.
