My Old Homemade Bean Can Boiler

Just thought someone might be interested in this. I built this when I was 11 out of a bean can. It's glued together with Amazing Goop. The top is a jar lid and the chimney is actually the filler plug. It's alcohol fired using a cotton ball as the wick.

I like your ingenuity!
It's just as well you had the pipe venting the steam - if that boiler were sealed, pressure would've built up and you'd have a shrapnel bomb on your hands! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R348vGkjyw

I wasn't that stupid! I wanted to run a turbine with it but it didn't make enough pressure to run the turbine I'd built. Since then I have built a turbine that would have worked, but the filler plug was held on with Super Glue instead of Goop and it broke off. Apparently Super Glue is junk. Maybe someday I'll fix it.

"Jims exploding steam engine" :lol

Glad no one was hurt. Shame though, looked like a niceish model.
