I think you may find you will need blind centre drivers?
They even appear on things a lot smaller:

Sorry Phil, call me think, but I have no idea what that means, even with the picture
'Blind' driver: Another term for a driven-wheel without a flange.

Well I had a little time today so had a quick go at doing some CAD work on the tenders. No where finished but the basic shape is there, lts more to do at some point.
Each one is 3 parts, the floor, the main tender and the top, so all can be removed with screws and weight added to the tenders.

For any that have read previous posts, it was mentioned that I may need to do some extra work to get this thing to go around corners. Well, they were right.
I have had to move the holes where the tenders meet the engine footplate and move them to allow for a better turning circle, this has only been done in CAD and I have not yet printed it off to see if it will need any more movement. I have also had to have flangeless wheels on the centre drive wheels as it only went in a straight line. I was always aware that I may have to do some modifications along the way, but hopefully in the end it might still turn out to look something like an NGG16. As yet though, it's going to be a pretty generic one as there are too many differences to get one that suits all. It will just be my interpretation of an unnamed NGG16.

Lots more work to do, I found I am going to have to shorten the rear tender by a couple of mm to allow for the turning to go around a Peco R1. Although it's not on the track properly in this picture, it's not too far off and will hopefully be resolved on the next couple of days.
And yes, it's just a mock up and thrown together to see if the theory will work. The final product will be printed at a higher resolution and sanded down etc, maybe even some paint, you just never know.
Struggling with the small bogie wheel connection at the moment as I am unable to mimic the original in the way it is built, so something will have to be made to fit, just no idea how at the moment as the larger driving wheels get in the way, as well as the bogie chassis.

Not sure where the pivot point is, in relation to axles on your bogies?
These really need to be (at least) inside the innermost axles for weight distribution and traction. - That is 'inside the wheelbase of the bogies.
You know doubt realise this..

They are where the plans say they should be, which is on the inner side or the "rear" axles. Hopefully the scaled model will be ok with it in the same place, but I wouldn't count on it the way things are going, lol

I think you've done really well to get it to negotiate such tight curves.
Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

This is literally the first run, no details as yet and no bogie wheels as yet, but it does run on an R1 Peco curve.
The rear tender is now printed and it does run without, but I didn't video that.

Wow! It's starting to come together.
Somewhat of a contrast to Hughie. Be interesting to see them side by side.

Erm, quite a HUGE difference between them. Hughie is about the size of one power tender. I have made the side steam pipes that go under the footplate, I was n't looking forward to that bit but they turned out to be a lot easier than expected to do the CAD work on. I have now started the bogie wheels, holders etc, so within a week or so it might be on all its 20 wheels! Just have to see if it can still go around bends with that lot on It may not have the cage around the bogie wheels, but that will be down to making it go around such tight curves.

Well some small updates. Obviously still a ton of work to be done.
The side steam pipes are now been done.

The cows will be in trouble if the see this coming.

It now has all 20 wheels on. The bogies need some work as one of them tries to derail all the time, but as it's only 1 out of 4, I am sure it can be corrected in due course. I may make some modifications to the motor chassis, just for aesthetic reasons. So far I have not been able to make bogie wheel frames as they would be in the way

That cow catcher looks great. Is it printed as part of the buffer beam, or separately and glued on?

The cow catchers are printed as part of the buffer beam, it just seemed easier to do it that way. Everything is printed at standard resolution of 0.2mm, so the quality isn't all that on the prototype, when it's finished I will redo most of the parts in a higher quality.

Well it actually runs now, all be it on a bit of track that is just laid on the board as I had to redo the track. But hey, it runs without kicking any wheels off. It appears the problem was 2 duffed wheels that had get the edges bent when I took them off the printer. A video to appear later.

Here it is at last. The track is being redone at the moment so I only have a semi circle to test on, but it ran perfectly.
