This is taken from G scale mad forum,  by john from track shack

Would you all please say hello to "Ragleth" the new 0-4-0T from Accucraft UK to be produced on the Edrig/Caradoc power unit.
A sample will be on show at the Welshpool gala this year, along with the sample of Mannin.

Ragleth will look like Caradoc but will have a few changes, and will make fitting of the servo for R/C easier. The side tanks have been shortened to show more of the smoke box and the profile of the rear of the cab has been changed to balance the shortened tanks.

In order to keep prices down Accucraft would have to order double the quantity of each model of both Edrig and Caradoc. By replacing the two models with one they can keep more models in stock (we like constant availiability don't we) wink.gif and keep the prices at the sort of level we are accustomed to .

Consideration is being made to offering some more extra colours for this new model, what do you fancy? Feedback required please.

The "Edrig power unit" will still be available as these are the same guts for Ragleth. (Running boiler/frames and wheels for your own tanks/cab to be fitted).

In addition consideration is being given to doing a "Lawley power unit" if anyone fancies the concept of an 0-6-0 running cahssis for your own body work. I guess this would make a good tender engine too. Feedback on this will be appreciated.

Finally I should say Ragleth is not likely to be in the shops till next year, meanwhile the last batch of Caradoc has just arrived and the final batch of Edrig is due in September.

Happy steamings,

John

Hi Andy

Edrig and Caradoc are being replaced with a similar loco to Caradoc but
with a price between the two models
. We may even add more colours to the
range. Having only one model will enable us to keep more in stock, and by
ordering more of the same type helps to keep the costs down.

We hope to have a sample model at the Llanfair Steam Gala in September.

We are having a final batch of Edrig delivered in early September, we also
have Caradoc in stock.

Hope this clears the situation.

Regards

Sound's like a good model. I'm looking forward to seeing what it turns out to be like.

Looks like the DVLR loco fleet might expand in the future! I like edrigs but I already have a millie and I like a bit of variation!
For colour sugestions a nice deep blue would be good like the colour of the accucraft exelcior!

I think it's a shame that two Highly popular & reasonably priced engines are being replaced but, if we'll get an engine with the reliability of the two & the charms of a Caradoc then that's good enough for me.

oh, thats a disapointment. I prefer caradoc! I'd have thought that they might have made it look a bit, well, different and nicer. As it is it just looks a bit boring and plain to me. Oh well the next loco will have to be secondhand I guess!!

[sarcasm]
Wow, thats oh so different to Caradoc
[/sarcasm]
Seriously that is Caradoc but not as pretty, including the famous Accucraft sloping rear bunker that SLRmidge and everyone else seems to hate so much
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

i'm not sure what to think on this one. I like the rear cab sheet and tank mounted coal bunkers but it looks very much like a 4 wheel Lawley to me :?

They killed Edrig for that  , perhaps they are allready missing Don Pearse's clearly fantastic knowledge of what looks good. I fear Accucraft may have hit its peak with the Countess.

it looks like a caradoc mated with a Mortimer!  (cab back especially)

looks like c**p, I mean most of accucrafts recents generic locos have all looked alike so by now its all starting to look really dull. :(

Thats down hartening! I don't think they'll make much money out of it, they've got rid of a really good and cheap entry level steam loco and put the prices up with something that does not compare with its soon extinct relatives. I feel sad.

It looks poo poo.

I dont think the tanks look right like that, if you going to have tanks that come up at the front, then i would say it only works when they come half way down the smokebox or more.

A lady anne bunker would looks nicer also.

Really its just a mix of 3 existing locos, nothing speical.
