Hi all,

I've just started work on a 3D printed kit (pics soon on my Rolling Stock thread) and would like to ask for advice on primer. I was thinking that I couldn't get any at the moment, but I've discovered that our local(ish) Halfords is offering Click & Collect from the car park, so I think I'll place an order and head down there for my daily exercise...

I think someone (Trevor?) suggested using high build primer to reduce the visibility of the striations - would this stuff do the trick, do you think?

Not sure if it's the same one, but on my last 3D loco that I painted, I used Halfords standard filler primer, still takes a number of coats and lots of rubbing down, but I eventually managed to get a flat surface that looked like plastic sheet or metal.

It says it's for bare metal or existing paint, but if it works for you I'll give it a shot...

Halford's Filler Primer is what I use on both wood and 3D printed surfaces. It can take a couple of coats but is brilliant stuff.

If it's not too late Andrew I have used these. They are a tad expensive, but they did the job for me, especially the High Build grey one...
