Rebuilding a bothy................

Somewhere in the rampant lineside greenery on the MDLR there was a lineside bothy........

Image

Ah! Is this it??

Image

Yes! It is! It was built with Jigstones, and was the only building I actually completed. The concrete bits have survived well, but the door (made from car filler) has lost nearly all its paint...

Image

There was small amount of frost damage.........

Image

............ and the lintels have suffered from spalling.......

Image

........... but the roof had HAD it! the tin was very rusty and fragile and the ply substrate was more-or-less non-existent.....

Image

............... but with a lick of paint on the door, a new roof, from food tins, but this time held together with one of those "No More Nails" - type adhesives.......

Image

.......... and the window boarded up (well, this is the noughties) I reckon it'll see service for a good few more years!

Well, perhaps not QUITE as good as new, but it'll do for a good few more years!

It's great how you've patched it up like a railway really would.

what did you think it said matt?

I like it Brian. Seeing the only building you completed with the moulds makes me feel a bit better at how my first attempt with them has come out!

As there are illustrated instructions of said building, I might have a go at that one myself... when I can find the time!
