I don't think this is railway related, but then again it might be, has Anne and myself was looking at our garden and our line last week when the heat was here. I saw this light blue thing fly past and land on the small conifer tree.

I tried to get a photo of it with it's wings open. But the I think it's ok showing it's black spots...

You need to be quick when trying to photograph one of these beautiful creatures...

It's a photo that just happened, you know one of those "spare of the moment". So I thought, we all spend some time in the garden and we see lots of different things going on that isn't shown when we put photos up of our models and railway lines. It's a thread that hopefully more members will be able to share what they also see when out and about in their own garden or somewhere else. I do like to see wildlife and though I don't usually have my camera with me, I do have my phone. So more photos will appear whenever I can see something that's worth showing.

This is not a competition, and it's not just about wildlife. It's just something that other members can show anything that they enjoy..

But perhaps there is a railway connection...? Butterflies seem to like garden railways - for example, the Marsh Fritillary is known to be partial to Accucraft IOM Coaches...

Two great shots there guys. Love the one of the Butterfly Simon and the deer is brilliant also..
Just shown them to the Grandkids and they loved them too....

I enjoy seeing these photos. All too often you don't have a camera to hand. Marion met a Stoat in the garden yesterday. Both were rather surprised but sadly no camera.

Yes.
I've left the wildlife camera out and this one does seem to be a fairly regular visitor. They can destroy gardens digging up bulbs etc. but I don't mind one just nibbling a few bits and pieces.

Today I discovered this hairy monster on my railway......

We have a feeding box for the hedgehogs and a CCTV camera to watch them at night. Last night we caught a clip of hedgie in the box feeding his face and a frog hopping past on his way back to the pond ( out of shot to the left).

Great idea for a thread.
I'll need to be quick with a camera to catch those cheeky squirrels that are invading the hazel tree at the moment and dropping nutshells on the track.

That butterfly on the coach is just beautiful.

You can see the reflection of its eyes Philip. Great to know that hedgehogs are around yours. Doe's the frog frequent your stream....

Hopefully we can all see more photos in due course. Do you have a mobile phone, I always keep mine on me, even though I miss a lot with them moving on or they don't turn out. You will at some point get a great photo, even if it may not be completely in focus.

Like I said "It's not a competition" just something to enjoy...

Of all the beautiful birds, butterflies, rabbits and foxes etc. which I know we have in our garden, I either don't see them at all or haven't got a suitable camera with me at the time.
So.... some of the things I can photograph are attached....
Firstly, something not quite so beautiful, but nonetheless crucially important to have around in the garden, the Earthworm.... This one is about ten inches long and temporarily removed from its preferred spot on the wet grass for a decent picture to be taken. (Returned immediately afterwards).
Next is a creature I have yet to be convinced is useful in any garden. The Slug......
This particular one was selected at random from an invasion by a Slug army, all attempting to travel from a boggy area near the stream and heading in the general direction of Diane's vegetable patch! This happens each year at this time, then after a few days we don't see them again.

That worm is somehow beautiful in its own way Peter, the slug however..........
